**Masseria 2026** brought the Selmun Interpretation Centre to life with a weekend dedicated to medieval living history, community and everyday life.

Organised by Anakron, the event transformed the historic Selmun farm buildings into an immersive medieval setting where visitors could experience different aspects of life from the period.

Throughout the event, Anakron participants wore historically inspired clothing and helped create the atmosphere of a small working medieval community. The setting included areas representing domestic and social life, together with displays of period equipment, armour and weapons.

An important part of Masseria was showing that medieval history was about much more than warfare. Visitors were able to experience the civilian side of the period through food, daily activities, conversation and the simple routines that would have formed part of life within a medieval settlement.

The **tavern area** became one of the social centres of the event, providing a relaxed setting where participants and visitors could gather while surrounded by the historic character of Selmun.

The traditional stone buildings and rural environment made Selmun a particularly suitable location for Masseria. Rather than using a temporary backdrop, the existing surroundings helped create a much more natural and convincing historical atmosphere.

Masseria also represented another important step in Anakron’s long-term project to develop the **Selmun Interpretation Centre into an immersive 15th-century medieval village**.

Through events such as this, the foundation is able to open the site to the public, demonstrate the progress being made and continue developing new ideas for future historical interpretation.

The weekend was another memorable chapter in the continuing development of Selmun as a place where medieval history can once again be experienced through living history.
