For Anakron, the event provided a particularly fitting opportunity to bring history to life within the historic surroundings of the Selmun farm buildings. Rather than simply presenting a static exhibition, our aim was to create an environment in which visitors could step away from the modern world for a moment and experience a glimpse of everyday life from centuries past.

Throughout the evening, participants of Anakron transformed the area into a medieval setting using historically inspired clothing, equipment, furnishings and displays. Visitors were able to walk through the site, meet our participants and discover different aspects of medieval life, from the clothing and objects people would have encountered in their daily lives to the weapons and equipment associated with warfare during the period.

Living history is at the heart of what Anakron does. Our objective is not simply to display historical objects, but to demonstrate how they may have been used and to place them within the wider context of the people who once depended upon them. Events such as Lejla Selmunija therefore allow the public to interact directly with our participants, ask questions and experience history in a much more engaging way.

The evening also provided an opportunity to showcase the military equipment of the medieval period. Visitors were able to view displays of armour, weapons and other martial equipment, offering an insight into how soldiers and warriors of the time would have been equipped. These displays complemented the civilian aspects of the event, helping us present a broader picture of medieval society and everyday life beyond the battlefield.

The setting at Selmun made the experience particularly special. The traditional buildings and rural surroundings provided a natural backdrop for the displays, allowing the site itself to become part of the interpretation. As visitors moved through the farm buildings, the combination of architecture, historical clothing and living-history displays helped create an atmosphere very different from that of a conventional exhibition.
